Gunning for Style

I have a tasteful crush on Tim Gunn. He’s the man of style; formerly with Parsons The New School for Design in New York City, design mentor on Project Runway, star of Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style and chief creative officer of Liz Claiborne Inc.

Tim Gunn is always impeccable; his look is remarkably refined, perfectly assembled with attention to every detail, and fitted with laser-like precision. It’s been said of him before, and it bears repeating—he is a STYLE GURU. And I adore him, right down to his patented, “Make it work” quip on Project Runway.

I’m thrilled there are certain descriptions that will never be associated with Gunn’s style: cheap, punk, redneck, grunge, androgynous, hip-hop, or street. I’m glad he’s classy and not edgy. There seem to be too few men who can pull-off elegant style without looking either too Donald Trump gray suit conservative or too Sean (P.Diddy) Combs shiny suit trendy.

I respect Gunn’s aesthetic sensibilities and fashion advice. I wish he could be my personal style mentor. Although I’m guessing that would mean I’d have to lose these comfy but crappy duds and look human again. Yeah, that’s probably not going to happen today. Tim, I promise I’ll pencil ya in real soon.
